Washington State Ferry

by Jerry on April 19, 2011

How frequently don’t we see a WA StateFerry?  We locals seem to take our marine highway system for granted… we find our way to the landings, pay our fare, and board.  These WSF Captains have a huge responsibility for their passengers and cargo, all the while maneuvering around other vessels in all types of weather.  This photo was taken April 17, 2011 on one of our beautiful spring days in the San Juan Islands.  I was enjoying a leisurely weekend cruise to Lopez Island.  The islanders are just now beginning to make ready to host their warm-weather habitants and visitors.  I visited Fish Bay, Mud Bay, Mackaye Harbor, and another (secret) bay.
